Rockin Relief auction raises $40K for the RSPCA Victorian Bushfire Appeal
After three weeks of intense bidding, Rockin' Relief for the RSPCA Victorian Bushfire Appeal - an initiative of The Frontier Touring Company and bwired in conjunction with the RSPCA Victoria - has ended, with close to $40,000 raised.
Rare money can't buy items, tickets and memorabilia were hotly contested - all were snapped up by avid fans. An autographed Gibson guitar, signed by the majority of bands who performed at Sound Relief Melbourne went for a cool $3000, while a Billy Joel autographed harmonica sold for $1230. In total 99 auction items raised $39,661 (for a full list of items and their winning bids check out www.rockinrelief.com.au).
All of the money raised will go to the RSPCA Victoria's bush fire recovery fund, providing ongoing financial assistance for:
· Vet Expenses
· Animal Purchases
· Animal Equipment and Shelter
· Livestock Feed
· Wildlife Carers
· Special Assistance
Michael Gudinski from The Frontier Touring Company said; "I'm very pleased with the end result for Rockin' Relief. It's great to know that the money raised will be going to such a worthwhile cause. It was wonderful to see so many people bidding such generous amounts. The only downside to the whole auction is that I was bidding on a couple of items and was outbid!"
On behalf of the animals - great and small - who will benefit from the proceeds of Rockin' Relief, the organisers thank the artists, managements, and companies who donated items for the Rockin' Relief auction.
