Youtube - more than 15 mins of fame

Being on TV is no big deal. Fifteen milliseconds of fame in the crowd at the MCG, maybe seen by a couple of your mates - good for a laugh but not much else. Being on Youtube on the other hand - that's got potential.

The videos named in Youtube's recent announcement of 2009's most watched videos, the first time a list has been released, have created genuine fame - popular recognition and cash!

Just look at Susan Boyle. Not a fan myself, but you can't help but love the story. She didn't win the TV show competition, she went one better. Almost overnight she became a youtube hit - loved, hated, but definitely talked about - and had her dream come true. The album is in stores now.

Then there's the wedding dance that almost single-handedly helped to revive Chris Brown's ailing reputation and has engaged couples throughout the Western world choregraphing their entrances and plotting video sales to offset their wedding expenses. Thankfully, the video came long after my own recent wedding (which, if you're reading honey/darling/babe, was the best day of my life - hands down).

The kid post-dentist, the Evian rollerbabies and the New Moon trailer - the Twilight factor has to be acknowledged in the latter, but we're talking about massive brand building, money-spinning videos here. The sort of stuff that can convert even the most traditional, the least creative, the biggest technophobes to the idea of the web.

Get it right and ROI will barely be a factor - we'll be too busy helping you handle all the new business.

PS: We're talking about Youtube, Facebook, Twitter and other proven fame-creators at our next seminar. Kick off the new year with some fresh ideas - for free!
